Although not confirmed, it’s looking increasingly likely that EDIT: Confirmed – the TweetDeck app for Android and iOS is on its last legs dead. Following the release of the new Twitter app for mobile devices today, along with the Twitter site refresh and the release of TweetDeck for web and Mac OSX, it appears TweetDeck is being slowly repurposed to act exclusively as Twitter’s desktop client.

Whether you like them or hate them, the tablet phenomenon has hit the retail world hard in an explosive manner, turning the once niche tech into everyone’s next gadget purchase. Although tablet PC’s have been around for some time, it took the advent of the iPad for the technology to make it onto the list of desirable items for the regular consumer. However while your regular consumer grade tablets are great for consuming media and playing casual games, what happens when you need real computing power? You know, the kind required to use real Microsoft Office, or the fully fledged version of Photoshop. What happens if you need to use a real browser, because a tablet browser does not have the functionality behind it in order to navigate through a more complex site? And sometimes you want to work with real files between various applications, rather than working in an isolated storage space in each application (like in iOS). Well, look no further. Jizmo is all for portable entertainment, and there’s no better portable entertainment device than a tablet or smartphone, because you know – it’s on you 24/7.

The biggest issue however is keeping your media collection portable enough to use when you really need it. Many people accumulate music and TV shows on a regular basis in physical or digital format. But that’s not much use to you on the optical disc it came on or the PC/Mac hard drive it was downloaded to when you’re on the go.

Media outlets and blogs have long been making comparisons between the iPhone and traditional handhelds like the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP in the area of portable gaming. These comments and stories as usual are just regurgitations of stories from other media outlets without people actually thinking about what they’re writing. This baseless writing recently escalated when news came in the last few weeks that Nintendo had just experienced its first financial quarter loss and that investors were reportedly pushing Nintendo’s software divisions to branch out to other hardware – ie. the iPhone.
